Sitesmith Beginner's Guide
From one sentence of requirements to a live site with domain, SSH and HTTPS.
Getting started: from zero to live

Many businesses know they need a website, yet they often get stuck at the very first step: not knowing what to prepare, not understanding domains and servers, and not knowing how to actually get a finished site online.
Sitesmith is a skill built around a conversational website-building process. Once installed in Hermes Agent, users can describe their business in plain language, and the AI helps them organise requirements, plan the site structure, generate content, build the website, and, after the preview is approved, complete the server deployment.
For beginners, the point is not to learn coding first, but to explain your company, services, customers and website goals clearly. The technical setup can be handled step by step with the AI's help.
What can Sitesmith help you do?
From concept to launch, Sitesmith covers the following process:
- Clarify your company positioning, target customers and website goals;
- Plan a single-page or multi-page website structure;
- Write copy in Chinese, English or both;
- Organise services, products, advantages, case studies and contact details;
- Design the website around your brand colours, Logo and photos;
- Generate and verify the website data;
- Deliver a previewable website;
- Configure Nginx, the domain and HTTPS after the user confirms;
- Visit the live site after launch and check that the pages work properly.
You can keep editing the site after it is finished. Businesses can request new pages, adjust colours, rewrite copy, update services, or add blog content at any time.
How do I install Sitesmith?
Run the following in a Linux or macOS terminal with Hermes Agent installed:

After installing, ask the bot to confirm that `sitesmith` appears in the Skills list, then load the skill.
Safety reminder: This command downloads and runs a remote script. Please make sure the source is trustworthy; for production servers, we recommend opening the script link and reviewing its contents before installing. Never send server passwords, SSH private keys, domain account passwords or API keys in a public chat.

What materials do you need before building a website?
Beginners do not need everything ready at once. You can start with the basics:
- Company or brand name;
- A one-line description of what the company does;
- Who your main customers are;
- The most important goal of the website, such as enquiries, appointments, sign-ups, sales or presentation;
- Three to five main services or products;
- Phone, email, WhatsApp and address;
- Logo, brand colours and real photos (if available);
- Your domain and server situation.
If you do not have a domain or server yet, the AI can first explain how to buy and configure them. Going live usually also requires:
- A domain you have already purchased;
- A cloud server you can access via SSH;
- Access to manage the domain's DNS;
- Working domain resolution for HTTPS;
- A secure way to manage the server.
From “I want a website” to going live
The actual process usually has five steps:
Step 1: Explain your business
Tell the AI about your company's business, customers and website goals. Incomplete information is fine; you can sort it out as you go.
Step 2: Confirm the site structure
Simple businesses usually start with a single-page website; when you need to explain the company, services, blog and contact details in depth, you can choose a multi-page structure such as Home, About, Services, Blog and Contact.
Step 3: Build and preview
The AI generates the website from the confirmed content and verifies its structure. The user reviews the preview first, checking the copy, images, colours and call-to-action buttons.
Step 4: Connect the domain and server
Once the site is confirmed, configure the server, Nginx, DNS and HTTPS. Sensitive credentials should be set up through a secure method; do not paste them into public groups.
Step 5: Verify the launch
Deployment is not the end of the task. You still need to visit the live domain to check HTTPS, page status, mobile display, links and contact details.
Who is it suitable for?
Sitesmith is especially suitable for:
- Beginners building a company website for the first time;
- Small and medium businesses that need to launch a brand website quickly;
- Teams that want a campaign page, service page or product landing page;
- Singapore companies that need a Chinese, English or bilingual website;
- Business owners who do not want to learn programming from scratch but still want to be able to update the site later.
What can InnoE help with?
If a business wants website planning, content, production, domain configuration, server deployment and later AI integration handled directly, InnoE can help assess the right solution. The website can also be connected to a corporate knowledge base, AI customer service and AI Agent, so that the site is more than a display page: it becomes part of the company's digital operations.
